À propos du livre
A Place Between is about journeys, about venturing off course. A fork in the road that opens the gateway to a flood of new information and immerses our senses in a kaleidoscope of unfamiliar sounds and images. This oversaturation can cloud detail, but we can also fall into moments of utter bliss. Utter solitude. These moments can be introspective and lonely at the same time, revealing the absence of what was left behind. But those are the moments that linger in the memory. We’re on a constant path, but along that path we take journeys, and between those journeys are created moments of thought – A clarity that resonates, but in an instance fades to obscurity.
How do the different mediums of photography, spoken word, film and sound, each capture or recreate these moments? By blurring the line between these media I attempt to form a multi-faceted representation of place and memory. This book focuses on fusing photography with spoken word and features as part of a larger body of work, also entitled A Place Between. The project examines how we document moments to capture memories and how the re–examination of those sounds and images over time transforms our recollections.
